Tour starts at 6:30 AM from your hotel Enjoy a full day of wildlife, elephant conservation and Sri Lankan nature. The tour combines a visit to the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, lunch at Athgira River Camp, and a 3-hour 4WD jeep safari through Udawalawe National Park. Visit the Elephant Transit Home, a rehabilitation centre established to care for orphaned elephant calves and prepare them for eventual return to the wild. The centre is operated under Sri Lanka’s wildlife conservation system. During the visit, you can observe the young elephants during their scheduled feeding session and learn about their rehabilitation and conservation. Please note: Feeding times are scheduled by the centre and can change, so the day’s itinerary may be adjusted to match the official feeding schedule. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at Athgira River Camp in Udawalawe, surrounded by a peaceful natural environment. This is a comfortable break between the elephant experience and your afternoon wildlife safari. After lunch, begin your 3-hour safari in a private 4WD jeep. Udawalawe National Park is particularly well known for its wild Asian elephants. During the safari, you may also encounter water buffalo, crocodiles, deer and a variety of bird species. Wildlife sightings are naturally dependent on the conditions and movements of the animals on the day. Travel through the park’s open grasslands, forests and areas around the reservoir while enjoying the scenery and looking for wildlife. After approximately 3 hours of safari, leave the national park and begin your comfortable journey back to your hotel.Itinerary
